If you have diabetes then you should be very careful about your diet. When you have diabetes your body cannot produce or properly use insulin. This will lead to an increase in the blood sugar or glucose levels. A Healthy diet will keep your blood sugar normal. You can seek the advice of a dietitian who can help make a diet plan just for you. These diet plan will be made considering your weight, lifestyle or other health problems that you have.

You should limit food that is rich in sugar and be careful about how much carbohydrates you eat in a day at different times. You should include whole-grain foods, fruits and vegetables in your diet. Instead of having heavy meals, you can have small snacks or meals at regular intervals in a day. This is due to the fact that having heavy meals will increase your weight which can be main cause for diabetes.

A sample diabetes diet meal plan which you can have is given below:

Breakfast

For breakfast you can include whole wheat bread, egg substitute, oat meal, skimmed milk, banana etc. You should have everything little only.

Lunch

For lunch you can have food items like vegetable soup, turkey sandwich, apple etc.

Dinner

For dinner you can have broiled chicken breast, cooked brown rice and carrots. You can even have a low-fat side salad. Unsweetened apricot fruits are also good to have after dinner.

Snacks

You can have snacks like tortilla chips with salsa, artificially sweetened chocolate pudding, light popcorn etc at regular intervals.
